Across my many addictions – Space Invaders as a teen, car buying and moving as an adult, and, of course, alcoholism, one addiction has never surfaced – gambling. I don’t do the lottery (Adam Smith, “tax on fools”); I don’t bet on dogs, horses or football ever. Yet I’m OCD about so many things – but gambling is thankfully not part of my genetic disposition.
Except.
I’ve realised (tenuous link alert) that blogging is a type of gambling. It is a marketing accumulator and, for me, at least, writing is addictive.
Let me explain.
Having blogs written for you by a sober, creative copywriter like me has so many advantages and uses:
- Add them to your website
- Submit to Google Search Console and Google My Business
- Share them on social media
- Paid boosts on social or PPC
- Use in email campaigns
- Add to PDF brochures
- Include in newsletters
Long term, a series of blogs on your websites sees you climb rankings because –
GOOGLE REWARDS FRESH CONTENT
Now you can’t just take a stab in the dark and second guess what your online customers are searching for. You need an audit and a CSV of keywords. I can do that. I can give you a website audit, a list of keywords with search volumes and an indicator of competition.
This accumulator won’t see you with a dopamine rush – it’s a long term high. Like gambling, success is not guaranteed but unlike that addiction, longer term it becomes a winner.
Someone searches for what you offer as a product or service. They look on Google, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Bing and find something. My job as a SEO copywriter is to get you found on there.
The costs?
£250 + VAT for a 12 page audit
£250 + VAT for 4 blog posts
No tie ins – but you will reap what you sow, trust me.
